Veltie Popple had the last of a line of family cattle, from the coastal region of Georgia. These were small, generally
red or brindle cattle. The last of the strain included only cows, and these were put into a crossbreeding herd where they
ultimately succumbed to old age. In the process we lost a remnant of the eastern extreme of the Pineywoods cattle.
